There are travelers tips for travelers who will explore Indonesia, especially Java island. The most concern for the travelers is the meal. The severest health problem most travelers are likely to encounter is the stomach problem- diarrhea. Do not take it easy or even laugh, when it happens to you, it’s far from funny. A few basic measures make an attack less likely; all are related to food hygiene and clean water.
•Never drink water (or any other drink) which doesn’t come from a sealed container, unless you are absolutely sure it’s been thoroughly boiled, even Indonesian boil their drinking water (It’s called ‘air putih’ in bahasa Indonesia, means ‘white water’). Here are travelers tips:
•Avoid salads, raw vegetables and fruits, unless you’ve peeled them yourself.
•Stick or freshly cooked foods rather than prepared dishes, especially for the first few days. Re-heated dishes may not be heated above boiling point all the way through.
•Use boiled or bottled water even for tooth-brushing.
•Don’t use ice on your drinks unless you are sure it‘s made from boiled water. Freezing doesn’t kill germs.
Of course, these rules are sometimes impossible to follow, but if you can stick to them for the first few days, you will give your body time to develop a tolerance for the new microbes it’s being forced to deal with.
